This project was a custom design for a modular vehicle storage rack.
Each rack consists of four columns which are required to lift and store small passenger vehicles such as sedans, hatchbacks, and coupes.
The columns that were fabricated for the rack were designed to be sturdy yet easily transportable to a warehouse for on-site assembly. They were lifted from our trailer and carried up a loading ramp into the warehouse with our skid-steer. The hoists were built with sea-can storage racks which were sanded and welded to the 6×6 columns, then primed—a simple yet robust design.
The baseplates were made of 1/2” plate and 7/8” holes for anchors. All welds were done with dual shield flux core giving optimal weld strength.
Installing these columns required the use of heavy hammer drills; hammers and impact wrenches with 6” minimum concrete thickness. The columns include bars above to attach each column front to back and side to side. This adds a huge amount of strength, with little-to-no movement once everything was tightened.
After everything was cleaned off, the final coat of paint was applied. The beauty of these hoists is that they require almost zero maintenance. The design was to allow for medium-to-long term car storage which technically doubled the storage space.
